About Sally Rooney

Sally Rooney was born in County Mayo, Ireland, in 1991. She is a graduate of Trinity College Dublin, where she studied English and earned a master’s degree in American literature. Widely celebrated as one of the definitive literary voices of her generation, her work masterfully captures the complexity of modern friendships, intimacy, and social dynamics.

Her debut novel, Conversations with Friends (2017), met with widespread critical acclaim, establishing her signature style of sharp, intellectual dialogue mixed with profound emotional vulnerability. It was quickly followed by Normal People (2018), an international phenomenon that won the Costa Book Award and was adapted into a critically acclaimed television series.

Continuing her exploration of political commitment, love, and youth culture, she published Beautiful World, Where Are You in 2021 and her latest highly anticipated novel, Intermezzo. Today, her works are translated into over forty languages, engaging millions of readers worldwide.
